Radial velocities. Measurements of 2800 B2-F5 stars for HIPPARCOS
Radial velocities have been determined for a sample of 2930 B2-F5 stars,95% observed by the Hipparcos satellite in the north hemisphere and 80%without reliable radial velocity up to now. Observations were obtainedat the Observatoire de Haute Provence with a dispersion of 80Ä,mm(-1) with the aim of studying stellar and galactic dynamics.Radial velocities have been measured by correlation with templates ofthe same spectral class. The mean obtained precision is 3.0 km s(-1)with three observations. A new MK spectral classification is estimatedfor all stars. | The Tokyo PMC catalog 90-93: Catalog of positions of 6649 stars observed in 1990 through 1993 with Tokyo photoelectric meridian circle
The sixth annual catalog of the Tokyo Photoelectric Meridian Circle(PMC) is presented for 6649 stars which were observed at least two timesin January 1990 through March 1993. The mean positions of the starsobserved are given in the catalog at the corresponding mean epochs ofobservations of individual stars. The coordinates of the catalog arebased on the FK5 system, and referred to the equinox and equator ofJ2000.0. The mean local deviations of the observed positions from theFK5 catalog positions are constructed for the basic FK5 stars to comparewith those of the Tokyo PMC Catalog 89 and preliminary Hipparcos resultsof H30.

| GPM1 - a catalog of absolute proper motions of stars with respect to galaxies
The description of the first version of the General Compiled Catalogueof Absolute Proper Motions (GPM1) for a sample of HIPPARCOS stars,derived with respect to galaxies within the plan called Catalogue ofFaint Stars (KSZ, Deutch 1952), is presented. The principal aim of theGPM1 construction was to provide absolute proper motions of stars todetermine the rotation of the HIPPARCOS system. The GPM1 cataloguecontains 977 HIPPARCOS Input Catalogue stars with V magnitudes $5^m -11^m in 180 fields north of -25 degrees of declination. The accuracy ofthe proper motions is 8 mas/yr (milliarcseconds per year). Comparison ofproper motions of GPM1 with those of the PPM and ACRS was performed andanalyzed with respect to systematic errors caused by spurious rotationof the FK5 system. The standard errors show that the rotation may bedetermined with an accuracy better than 1 mas/yr. | Photometric survey near the main Galactic meridian: 2.1. Finding charts and photoelectric U,B,V,R stellar magnitudes in 26 fields. Photometric properties of the night sky at Mount Terskol observatory
Finding charts and photoelectric magnitudes of stars in the \ubvr\system in 26 fields of the MEGA programme are presented. This part ofthe photometric survey near the Main Galactic Meridian includes thefields with right ascentions 8(h) < alpha < 16(h) 30(m) anddeclinations -2(deg) < delta < 58(deg) . Together with the findingcharts of 2.5(deg) x2.5(deg) the equatorial coordinates of the stars aregiven for epoch and equinox 1950. Photometric properties of the nightsky at the Mount Terskol observatory near Mount Elbrus are derived fromthe photoelectric observations.

| Toward the HIPPARCOS link: astrometry of stars and extragalactic sources in the field of the spiral galaxy M51.
We present absolute proper motions of 14 Hipparcos stars from groundbased photographic astrometry in a 2x2deg field around the spiral galaxyMessier 51. These are part of a catalogue of 340 stars with B<=16,for which positions, proper motions, and B magnitudes have been derivedfrom a series of 16 photographic plates. Due to large epoch differencesof up to 88 years between the observations, the proper motion accuracyis typically <=1mas/a. An extragalactic calibration of the propermotion zero-point is achieved by measuring the fictitious proper motionsof bright extragalactic objects in the field. For this purpose, across-correlation technique was developed. The resulting precision ofthe proper motion link to an extragalactic frame is estimated as1.0mas/a. Measurements of double stars and high proper motion stars arealso discussed.
| MK classification and photometry of stars used for time and latitude observations at Mizusawa and Washington
MK spectral classifications are given for 591 stars which are used fortime and latitude observations at Mizusawa and Washington. Theclassifications in the MK system were made by slit spectrograms ofdispersion 73 A/mm at H-gamma which were taken with the 91 cm reflectorat the Okayama Astrophysical Observatory. Photometric observations in UBV were made with the 1-meter reflector at the Flagstaff Station of U.S.Naval Observatory. The spectrum of HD 139216 was found to show a strongabsorption line of H-beta. The following new Am stars were found:HD9550, 25271, 32784, 57245, 71494, and 219109. The following new Apstars were found: HD6116, 143806, 166894, 185171, and 209260. The threestars, HD80492, 116204, and 211376, were found to show the emission inCaII H and K lines.
| Photoelectric UBV photometry for 317 PZT and VZT stars
UBV data were taken of 317 stars to fill gaps in photoelectric recordsneeded for establishing a terrestrial reference frame for earthorientation purposes. The study supplied the magnitudes and colors andaided in identifying nearby stars without trigonometric parallaxes. Thesurvey averaged over three observations of each object. A complete tableof the V, B-V, U-B and number of observations of each object isprovided.
| A photometric study of the M51 system
Photoelectric (UBV and I) and photographic observations of the twocomponents of the M51 system, NGC 5194 and NGC 5195, are presented inthe form of photoelectric drift scans, composite photographs, calibratedcontour maps, color-color diagrams, and three-dimensional plots. Thelarge-scale features and symmetries of the system are described, andindividual regions are examined in detail. Approximate luminosities ofthese regions and integrated luminosities of the complete system aredetermined. The results indicate that: (1) the maximum detected extentof the system is 40 arcmin or 120 kpc; (2) the mass in the outerenvelope is equal to the mass obtained for the bright optical componentsif an M/L ratio of 10 is assumed; (3) the east side of NGC 5194 isbrighter than the west side; (4) the faint outer regions of NGC 5194 arelarge and structured; (5) there seems to be internal interaction betweenthe two galaxies; (6) the two galactic nuclei show complex structure;(7) the luminosity profile of NGC 5194 appears to be unique; and (8) thetwo galaxies may belong to a common system or mass aggregate and appearto be interconnected.
